FIMI - Environment Award
As you are aware, to
encourage the mining units to preserve and improve environment and ecology in
the mining areas and to develop a healthy competition among them in this
regard, FIMI has instituted Environment Awards.

the management and a citation to the environment manager at the mine
identified by the management) are in the following categories and are given

The basis for selection of
mines in each of the above categories are the marksheets given by the Indian
Bureau of Mines (IBM) in the Environment Week Celebrations in each
region/zone. FIMI also invites separate nominations from regions/zones not
covered by IBM. Similarly, since IBM does not cover minor minerals, the
FIMI invites nominations from its regional associations and others to cover
the maximum number of mines. The overall assessment of the mines, selected
by IBM as well as of those who send their nomination to FIMI, is done by
the Environment Award Committee.
This letter is to invite
your nomination for the awards for the year 2007-08. We enclose a
questionnaire on the basis of which the marking will be done by the Environment
Awards' Committee. In order to facilitate the Award Committee's assessment of
your application, we would request you to kindly send us the details of the
works done by you in respect of environmental aspects only in a video film
restricted to the time limit of five minutes.
We would also request you to kindly send us 20 sets of your
complete application which includes short write-up about your organization along
with a CD of Video film and award application fee of Rs. 10,000/- by demand
draft favouring Federation of Indian Mineral Industries payable at New Delhi
latest by 31st March, 2008. It may be noted that the
application without video CD film will not be considered for evaluation.
We may incidentally mention
that a mine which wins an award during a year is not eligible for the same
award for the next three years. Further, the corporates who have received the
FIMI Environment Awards/FIMI Social Awareness awards in past on two or
more occasions would automatically become the members of the
"Sustainable Miners' Club" when it comes into operation since it is felt that
any further awards to such companies would be a mere formality. Therefore
such organisations need not apply for the award.
Further, the mines those
who have received the FIMI Environment Awards in past and applying for the
current year should clearly indicate the work done and contribution made
after the year of receiving the last award.
